BW Digital and Squareroot8 Technologies Join Forces to Build Quantum-Secure Digital Infrastructure across Southeast-Asia

Strategic partnership: Squareroot8 Technologies’ quantum-secure encryption will be integrated into BW Digital’s regional ecosystem to strengthen cross-border connectivity between Singapore and Batam.
Post-quantum protection: The collaboration uses quantum technologies like QKD to safeguard data, communications, and AI workloads from present and future cyber threats.
Driving local innovation: The partnership makes quantum security central to digital transformation while supporting Singapore-led technology and start-ups.
Singapore, 3 February 2026 - BW Digital and Squareroot8 Technologies, a leading provider of quantum-secure solutions, today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to advance quantum-secure connectivity across Southeast Asia. This collaboration focuses on integrating Squareroot8 Technologies into BW Digital’s regional digital ecosystem, which serves as a critical hub for cloud services, AI workloads, digital operations, and cross-border enterprise connectivity.
Spanning Singapore and Batam (Indonesia), BW Digital’s ecosystem has been designed to support high-performance computing at scale and combines the NDP1 data center, the Nongsa-Changi submarine cable, and the Citra Connect terrestrial fiber network. It has entered the final stage of construction and is scheduled to be ready for service in the first half of 2026.
As organizations increasingly rely on digital services, protecting the integrity and security of sensitive data—including AI workloads and analytics—has become paramount, particularly as advances in quantum computing expose traditional encryption methods to harvest-now, decrypt-later attacks, where encrypted data intercepted today may be compromised by future quantum computers.
This urgency is reflected in the rapid growth of the global quantum cryptography market. According to Polaris Market Research, the market is projected to expand from approximately USD 700 million in 2024 to over USD 18 billion by 2034, representing a compound annual growth rate of around 38%. [1] This growth highlights the immediate demand gap for quantum security solutions across data centres, critical infrastructure, and regulated industries.

Embedding Quantum Security into Next-Generation Digital Infrastructure
Unlike “quantum-safe” approaches, which rely on mathematical algorithms designed to resist future quantum attacks, quantum-secure technologies use the fundamental laws of physics to protect data. Techniques such as quantum key distribution (QKD) enable encryption keys to be generated and exchanged in a way that immediately detects any attempt at interception—making quantum-secure infrastructure inherently secure by design.
By embedding Squareroot8 Technologies’ quantum-secure encryption and quantum network connectivity into BW Digital’s infrastructure, the collaboration further safeguards long-lived data, real-time communications, and AI-driven digital processes. This allows organizations to operate with confidence today while ensuring their digital assets remain protected throughout their entire lifecycle in the post-quantum era.
This partnership represents a key step toward building quantum-secure digital infrastructure across Asia-Pacific, empowering governments, enterprises, and telecom operators to scale securely while mitigating current and emerging cyber risks.

Leadership Perspectives
Cristofer Quek, CEO of Squareroot8 Technologies, said, “Partnering with BW Digital allows us to bring quantum-secure technologies from concept into practical deployment. Quantum security is fundamentally different from traditional or ‘quantum-safe’ approaches; it is built on physics, not assumptions about future computing power. By combining our expertise with BW Digital’s regional infrastructure and AI-driven platforms, we aim to help organisations take meaningful steps toward long-term cyber resilience in a post-quantum world.”
Florent Blot, Chief Business Officer of BW Digital, added, “Quantum technology and security represent the next frontier in the digital transformation. This collaboration with Squareroot8 Technologies aligns with our mission to deliver a secure and future-ready digital ecosystem, empowering customers with next-generation infrastructure solutions. It also reflects BW Digital's strategy to foster ‘Made in Singapore’ technological innovation and start-ups.”
Enabling Secure Transformation in a Quantum-Ready South-East Asia
With several Southeast Asian countries, and most particularly Singapore, advancing national quantum and cybersecurity strategies, the MOU between Squareroot8 Technologies and BWDigital provides a practical pathway to quantum-secure adoption through real-world deployments that validate performance, interoperability, and operational readiness, helping organisations transition securely while maintaining operational continuity, scalability, and resilience – including for AI-powered services.
By working closely with industry partners, it also enables future-ready regional infrastructure and quantum-secure protection for AI workloads and sensitive data deployed across major global cloud and hyperscale platforms.
Headquartered in Singapore and part of BW Group, BW Digital develops, builds, and operates digital infrastructure in high-potential markets. Our vision is to create a sustainable digital ecosystem for cloud and AI workloads by combining data centres, connectivity, and renewable energy.
Our main assets include the 15,000km Hawaiki submarine cable connecting Australia, New Zealand, and the US since 2018, and the BWDigital Campus at Nongsa Digital Park, comprising the 144 MW NDP1 data centre, the NCC submarine cable between Singapore and Batam, and the Citra Connect terrestrial fibre network.
